User Interface (aka human machine interface) has evolved a great deal since 1989, when PKG was first started. The world has gone from full-travel keyboards, punch cards and monitors to a world were touch screens are common place. Technology is advancing exponentially and many exciting possibilities exist in the user-interface world. These advances will most likely change the way we look and interact with the world around us.

Some advances in the user interface world include digital paper and digital glass. Digital glass is essentially a transparent LCD monitor. Digital paper is a flexible display that has no back-lighting. Therefore, it doesn’t need power except to change what is on the display. This gives digital paper a very long batter life. These advancements, in addition to thinner and larger displays, make inclusion of technology in both our everyday life and in the professional world much easier to integrate.

PKG’s future is highly involved in these advancements. Our focus has always been on customer needs. There is a team focused on each specific market segment that PKG operates in – Medical, Industrial, Government, and Aerospace – in order to better specialize in the requirements of each of those segments. We work to deliver a package of solutions based on our customer’s needs.

In order to do this, PKG works with proven technology and integrates it with new user interface technologies. PKG designs and tests new technologies that will make human-machine interfaces become more seamless based on the DFx (Design for Excellence) concept.
